The beginning of a new year is always an exciting time. Here are our top tips on how to best close out 2022, and how to create space for the newness that 2023 will bring!
1. Start with a clean space
There’s no better way to start the new year than with a fresh and clean home. It doesn’t need to be anything drastic, but amidst the celebrations and social catch ups, try to set aside an hour or two to tidy up your home and give it a once over.
2. Reflect on the last year
Take a moment to make a smoothie or an iced coffee, sit down and journal about the year that you’ve just had. What went super well? What wasn’t quite right? What would you like to bring into 2023, and what would you like to leave behind?
Spring has finally sprung; the days are warming up and the mornings are getting lighter! We absolutely love this time of year: it’s exciting and invigorating. It’s also the perfect time of year to head down to the beach, before the summer breeze begins to pick up.
While the afternoons are beginning to really heat up, the mornings are still pretty fresh and so we’re bringing you the ultimate spring breakfast to start the day! This meal is healthy, delicious and the perfect fuel for your spring adventures.
Here at GRNSTR, we believe that it is our responsibility to look after and protect our planet; both for ourselves now and for future generations to come.
We love this incredible world that we live in, and cherish the magical experiences that it affords us. Protective of this invaluable resource, GRNSTR strives to be a forward-focused sustainable brand. We do not want to contribute to the “fast fashion” industry that is so pervasive in the surfing industry. We actively work to steward our resources well and mitigate our impact on the Earth.
Spring is here but the mornings are still fresh and it can be easy to just roll over and press the snooze button in the mornings. Here are my top tips on how you can make the most of each day; starting with optimising your morning routine.
1. Adhere to a Bedtime
Your best tomorrow starts tonight; with a good night’s sleep. Put your phone away before you head to bed in order to reduce the amount of blue-light you’re exposed to before sleep. Take some time to enjoy the practice of getting ready for bed; for me, that’s a warm shower and my skincare routine, and a pair of cute pyjamas.
The world is opening up, plane tickets are being booked, and bags are being packed! If you’re off on a sunny and warm adventure soon, we have collated a checklist of the ultimate items that should be in your bag.
I mean, it goes without saying! We are all learning more and more about the anti-aging benefits of wearing sunscreen and the importance of sun protection, and so of course bringing a good SPF is at the top of our list.
My absolute favourite SPF (and foundation) is the Ella Bache Great Sunguard SPF40 Foundation. I’ve been using it for fourteen years, and swear by it! Apply it as is, after your skincare routine, or mix it with untinted sunscreen to moderate the coverage. Use my code ELIZA for 10% off at Ella Bache Joondalup in Perth.
There are many different components that make up a surf report. Though they can seem intimidating at first glance, surf reports are full of important information that tell you everything you need to know about the conditions of the water.
Whether you want to head out for a swim, a surf or a snorkel session, checking out the surf report of the beach you’ll be heading to will give you insight into how you can expect to experience the water.
We are here to decode the components of a surf report for you, so that you can feel empowered each time you head down to the ocean!
I am so thrilled to share that GRNSTR has made it onto the New York Times!
Shortly after GRNSTR’s first magazine feature, (in British Vogue no less; read all about it here!) I was honoured to receive correspondence from one of the editors of the New York Times. She was proposing an editorial for their swim-piece guide, and wanted to feature the Desert Tigress Wetsuit. I could feel my heart begin to race as I read through the email.
Founded in 1851 (you read that right) The New York Times is an American newspaper based in New York City, with a worldwide readership. The New York Times has over 9.1 million subscribers and this world-renowned newspaper reaches a global audience daily.
Pop the champagne! And so GRNSTR stepped into a three month campaign from June to August with British Vogue. July’s cover of British Vogue featured none other than Beyoncé! Vogue Print has a total reach of 20.4 million people, and Vogue Retail has over five million monthly visitors to their site - so I’m understandably stoked with the exposure and visibility that has been afforded to GRNSTR as a result of this partnership!
You can find GRNSTR’s feature in @britishvogue June, July and August Magazine & online at @Vogue Retail.
Arguably Perth’s most popular beach, Cottesloe Beach offers a consistent surf break all throughout the year. The fairly exposed beach and groyne break experiences the best swell from the southwest direction, and is a reliable beach for beginners. This beach is a social hub and can get quite busy, so we recommend braving the cold and getting into the water early if you’re heading out on the weekend.
We love heading to the new local on the street, Ol’ Bouy, for our post-surf coffee fix or North Street Bakery for a delicious cinnamon scroll.
You’ve heading out to brave the cold water; and you know that it will feel so good when you’re warming up with a coffee afterwards. There’s truly nothing like getting into the fresh ocean air and plunging into cold water to help beat the winter blues here in the Southern Hemisphere!
Here are our top post swim necessities, to keep you cosy after a winter swim.
So you’re headed to your favourite beach to enjoy the sun, check out the reef and catch sight of your local nemos. (If you’re looking for our favourite snorkelling spots around Perth, check out our top 3 spots here!)
But what are your snorkelling essentials? We’ve compiled a list of our Snorkelling Beach Checklist, so that you’re ready for your next adventure! We know you’ll bring your snorkel set, but here are our other recommendations!
